Fishing for Northern Pike

Mepps Spinner and Rattling Crankbait are Top Producers

Fishing for Northern Pike should include a stiff 6 – 7 ft baitcasting or spinning outfit spooled with 15 to 20 lb mono. Always use a solid wire leader to prevent bite-offs.

Almost any flashy lure will attract Northerns; one of the number one producers is a Mepps spinner or a rattling crankbait such as a Minus -1, but spoons are still a favourite for many fishermen.

Also a general tip is to increase the size of your presentation as the season progresses.
